Alabama Third Baseman Selected to Golden Spikes Watchlist

Thursday, Alabama's Gage Miller earned a selection to USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watchlist.

The Golden Spikes Award recognizes the nation's top player annually. Dave Magadan is the sole winner of the Golden Spikes Award in Alabama program history, winning the award in 1983, where he recorded a .525 batting average, 114 hits, and 31 doubles as a junior.

Miller joins the likes of Arkansas' Hagen Smith, Florida's Jac Caglianone, Georgia's Charlie Condon, LSU's Tommy White, and Wake Forest's Chase Burns on the watch list.

Rob Vaughn's everyday third baseman has been one of the nation's best hitters over the first two months of the season, recording 52 hits, eight doubles, 14 home runs, and 41 RBIs while slashing .448/.531/.914 over 116 at-bats.

Miller has led Alabama to third place in the SEC as of April 4, taking home series against Tennessee and South Carolina.
