Alabama Women’s Basketball Dominates Tulane on Wednesday Evening
Alabama women's basketball improved to 13-0 after defeating the Tulane Green Wave on Wednesday night inside of Coleman Coliseum. The victory was the Crimson Tide's second of the week after defeating Sam Houston 73-36 on Tuesday.

In the first quarter of Wednesday's matchup, Tulane struck first with a 3-pointer, and the quarter was intense from there. Both Alabama and Tulane exchanged baskets, keeping the matchup close and engaging. At the 6:15 mark, the score was 9-9, a testament to how fiercely the two teams were attacking the game and limiting scoring opportunities. Despite the Green Wave's early challenge, the Crimson Tide held on and closed out the first quarter with a 22-15 lead.
Alabama began to pull away in the second quarter. Midway through, Alabama held a 30-17 advantage over Tulane. After a media timeout, Alabama forced a turnover but couldn’t capitalize, resulting in a shot clock violation despite Ta’Mia Scott’s 3-point attempt. That didn’t faze the Crimson Tide as they continued to compete and focus on building their momentum. Alabama headed into the locker room with a 39-23 lead, with two players nearing double digits: Ace Austin and Naomi Jones, both with eight points.
Despite Alabama leading in points by halftime, Tulane held on and kept the competition competitive. Both teams recorded 19 rebounds, while Alabama led with three blocks compared to Tulane’s two. Alabama also had four steals, outdoing Tulane’s one, and Alabama had six turnovers while Tulane had 10. These stats suggested two possible scenarios for the second half: either Alabama would continue to dominate and add more points to the score, or Tulane would try to make a comeback to maintain the competitive tone.
Diana Collins opened the third quarter with a 3-point basket, and the Crimson Tide asserted dominance from there. By the 4:19 mark, Alabama held Tulane to just seven points while adding 14 points to their lead (53-30), with Collins leading with 12 points. Alabama held onto their lead in the third, finishing with a 20-point advantage (60-40). Ta’Mia Scott added to the thrill of the third quarter by finishing with a buzzer-beater 3-pointer.
The final quarter saw Alabama maintain their commanding lead, demonstrating depth and control. Early on, Tulane attempted to shift the game's momentum, but Alabama responded with strategic plays and tight defense, which reinforced their dominance. With balanced scoring and consistent rebounding, Alabama pushed their lead even further, capitalizing on turnovers and converting them into points. As the clock ticked down, Alabama sealed their victory, showcasing a dominant performance on both ends of the court. The final score reflected Alabama's superior play, solidifying their win against Tulane
