Bama in the NFL: Week 14 Outlook
The last few weeks of the season are upon us, and as sad as it is to know that the football season is coming to a close, it brings with us some amazing matchups. So let's break down the biggest matchups with the Bama players that are poised to make big impacts.
Packers vs. Lions (Thu. 7:25 ct):
Josh Jacobs (Packers) - Coming off a great stretch of games, Jacobs looks to continue that efficiency in this matchup against a tough divisional rival. The Lions have one of the best defenses in the league against the run, but they have also had times where they've allowed good efficiency to elite backs. Expect a tough matchup and hard running.
Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) - Another elite back that is coming into stride on the back of a great stretch of games. Expect Gibbs to see the ball a lot, especially in the passing game, as that is where his explosiveness and shiftiness shines.
Jameson Williams (Lions) - Still averaging around five to eight targets a game, he is still one of Goff's favorite targets. Look for him to make a splash in this one as he was suspended during their last matchup. He could be the game changer in this one because of that. So look for him to have a big role in this game plan.
Browns vs. Steelers (Sun. Noon ct):
Jerry Jeudy (Browns) - Coming off some huge games, this one could be a little tougher due to the Steelers amazing secondary headed by Minkah Fitzpatrick. Some Tide on Tide action in this one, which will be exciting to watch. If Winston is still airing it out, (which is his strong suit so why would he not), expect Jeudy to be the main target, Especially if Tillman is out again.
Najee Harris (Steelers) - Coming off a great game last week against the Bengals, the Browns defense is significantly better so it will be tougher for him this week. The last time he face the Browns defense two weeks ago, was not the best performance so hopefully he can shine in this one.
Panthers vs. Eagles (Sun. Noon ct):
Bryce Young (Panthers) - Facing off against another former Tide qb, Bryce looks to continue his stretch of statement games by taking one here from the title contending Eagles. Coming off a great two games in which he probably should have come away with wins, it remains to be seen if the team around him can get it done for him too. Expect Young to play another great prove it game, hopefully taking the win with him this time.
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) - Putting together a great closing stretch of games, Hurts and the Eagles look to keep that going in a matchup they should be able to handle with ease. Hurts has not been asked to toss the rock as much this year as in previous years due to an MVP season that is being put together by his backfield mate Barkley. Limiting his turnovers has been the main factor in this offense's success. This looks to be a sneaky trap game for the Eagles that could be a really good game for the Panthers.
DeVonta Smith (Eagles) - Not playing the last two weeks, Smitty should return here strong and against a defense that is less than stellar. Getting him going early is key and it will open things up for him the rest of the game. Expect a modest return for him here.
That does it for this week's matchups. Check back Tuesday for the recap. Roll Tide!
