East Rutherford, N.J. - Former Alabama linebacker CJ Mosley is retiring from the NFL, according to 247 Sports insider Matt Zenitz.

Mosley was a force to be reckoned with for ten seasons in the NFL, spending five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and five years with the New York Jets. In his 10-year NFL career, Mosley played in 133 games, totaling 1,082 tackles, 66.5 tackles for loss, 52 pass breakups, 12 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 12 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns.

 

He was named to the Pro Bowl five times in his career, including during his rookie campaign with the Ravens. He was a five-time All-Pro linebacker in the NFL, with four of those designations coming during his time with Baltimore. As a first-round rookie out of Alabama in 2014, Mosley finished in second place for Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

 

Mosley spent four seasons with the Crimson Tide, totaling 317 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, five interceptions, three pick-sixes, and two fumble recoveries. He helped Alabama claim back-to-back national championships in 2011 and 2012, and was named an All-American during his junior and senior year campaigns in 2012 and 2013.

 

A native of Theodore, Alabama, Mosley was named a Consensus All-American in 2012 and 2013, with the 2013 designation being unanimous. He was the 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year and won the Butkus Award in 2013.
