The University of Alabama football team went through its second practice of the spring on Monday in shorts and helmets for roughly two hours inside the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility.

The Crimson Tide returns 13 starters from last year’s national championship team, but competition for a role on the 2013 team is intense as newcomers and returners look to make their mark. The Alabama coaching staff will put an emphasis on fundamentals, learning and accountability as the spring continues.

“I don’t care what the circumstances are, you still have to show you are dependable, and you can go out there and perform,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “That is the part of mental toughness and focus that every player has to sort of prove that he can do. Each player should evaluate that for themselves every day.”

The Crimson Tide practice two more times this week on Wednesday and Friday before being dismissed for spring break (March 25-29). Alabama will then resume spring practice with the fifth of 15 spring practices on Monday, April 1.
