
Alabama Freshman Cornerback Dijon Lee Named Finalist for Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year
On Wednesday, Alabama freshman cornerback Dijon Lee was named a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, presented to the most outstanding freshman player in college football. Lee is one of five finalists for the award. The winner of the award will be announced on December 30.

Lee, a 6-foot-4, 202-pound cornerback from Mission Viejo High School in Carson, California, has started five games for the Crimson Tide this season and has seen action in all 12 regular season games. The lengthy cornerback has totaled 30 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and two interceptions during his first season with the Crimson Tide. In the 12 games he has played this season, Lee has surrendered just 10 receptions on 24 targets, with a team-low catch rate of 41.7%. Lee owns the sixth-highest grade among freshman cornerbacks in Division I with a 78.6 coverage grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

Alabama has produced two Shaun Alexander Award winners in its program's history, with Will Anderson Jr. winning the first in 2021 and Caleb Downs winning the most recent in 2023.
