Former Alabama Quarterback Set to Return From Injury
Former Alabama and current New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is expected to return from his high ankle sprain in time for this week's Monday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears.
"QB Mac Jones expects to be available Monday night vs. the Bears, per sources, with a final hurdle to be cleared this week in practice," tweeted ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss.
The former national champion has been out since Week 3 when he suffered an ankle injury during New England's 37-26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He has been week-to-week since the injury but has yet to return to the field.
The second-year starter has been spotted at practice every week since the injury and has continued to progress. He reportedly led offensive line drills on Thursday, however, was still listed as limited on the Patriots' injury report.
This season, Jones is 64-of-97 for 786 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also has 14 rushing attempts for 37 yards and a touchdown.
The Patriots are current 3-3 and No. 4 in the AFC East.
The New England Patriots take on the Chicago Bears on Monday, October 24, 2022, at 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN.
