Former Alabama Wide Receiver Set to Have a Breakout Year

The Denver Broncos appear to be a Super Bowl favorite entering the 2022 season after acquiring superstar quarterback Russell Wilson. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Wilson lost one of his primary weapons after wide receiver Tim Patrick tore his ACL in the first week of training camp.

Wilson will now have to rely on former Alabama standout Jerry Jeudy to shoulder the load as the Broncos number one wide receiver. After consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Crimson Tide NFL scouts believed that Jeudy would be the next great Alabama wide receiver in the NFL following the likes of Julio Jones and Amari Cooper.

Jeudy has failed to live up to his game-changing abilities in his first two years after being drafted 15th overall by the Denver Broncos in 2020. As a rookie, he caught 53 passes for 856 yards and only three touchdowns. An ankle sprain limited him to just 10 games in his second year, Jeudy only hauled in 38 passes for 467 yards and no touchdowns.

Jeudy enters the 2022 season with a clean bill of health and a much better outlook at the quarterback position. Wilson has the skillset needed to ensure Denver gets the most out of the South Florida-native. At Alabama, Jeudy's strengths were his deep route running and superb hands. After having Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater as his QBs in his first two seasons, Jeudy now gets a top ten quarterback throwing him the ball.

Denver brings back a top ten defense, led by Patrick Surtain II, adding Wilson under center along with a young, talented, receiving core enhances the Broncos Super Bowl Odds. If Jeudy has a 1,000-yard season as he did at Alabama, then the Lombardi Trophy could be headed back to Denver, Colorado.
