Ridley was suspended on March 7, 2022, after an NFL investigation came to the conclusion that he bet on multiple games during the 2021 season while he was under contract with the Atlanta Falcons, however had stepped away from the team to work on his mental health.

The investigation revealed that he bet $1,500 total and some of his bets included games from his own team during his hiatus.

Ridley titled this incident a "challenging chapter of my professional career" and something he admitted was deliberate on his part, but understands that was wrong.

Throwing Ridley into the mix of a talented Jacksonville wide receiver core, he will look to have a bounce back season in 2023 and get himself back to being the outstanding player he was with Alabama and his early seasons in the NFL.
