Former Hillcrest standout Tim Anderson drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 1st round of the MLB draft with the 17th pick overall.

The Tuscaloosa News reported Anderson, a multi sport athlete at Hillcrest High School lead the Patriots to the 2011 AHSAA Class 6A title on the basketball court, then earned All-State honors the following season in baseball.

Anderson spent the last two seasons at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi earning All-American honors this past season with a .495 batting average. He also hit 10 home runs, 11 triples and 18 doubles, while driving in 45 runs. He also a force on the base-paths with 41 stolen bases and 62 runs scored.
