Houston Mallette Signs With Chicago Bulls

Former Alabama men's basketball guard Houston Mallette has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Chicago Bulls after the conclusion of Wednesday night's NBA draft, it was announced by the University of Alabama.

Mallette is signing a Summer League deal with Chicago, meaning he will play this summer for the Bulls for a chance to earn a contract with Chicago after the Summer League is done. Mallette is the second former Alabama men's basketball player to sign an undrafted free agent contract after Latrell Wrightsell Jr. signed with the Charlotte Hornets last night.

Mallette, a 6-foot-5, 202-pound guard from Alameda, California, originally committed to play for Pepperdine out of high school, where he spent three seasons with the Waves. His best season with Pepperdine was his last, averaging 14.7 points, 2.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 43.1% from the floor and 41.5% from three-point range. He transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2024-2025 season, where he redshirted after playing in just six games in his first season in Tuscaloosa.

In his final season of college basketball during the 2025-2026 season, Mallette was the heartbeat of the Alabama basketball roster, despite not seeing a consistent starting role. He averaged 6.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 37.2% from the floor and 35.5% from three-point range.

Mallette is the third former Alabama men's basketball player to get a chance to play in the NBA this draft cycle:
