Jalen Hurts is A Part of History as Philadelphia Advances to Super Bowl
Philadelphia, Penn. - The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl-bound for the second time in the Nick Sirianni era in Philadelphia. It marks the second career Super Bowl appearance for Jalen Hurts, the former 2-time SEC champion as the Alabama signal caller.

The Eagles entered Sunday as the favorites over the Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia will get another crack at a Super Bowl under Jalen Hurts.
Hurts and Saquon Barkley made history in the 55-23 victory over Washington. Jalen Hurts himself had a career day to clinch his second conference championship, completing 20/28 passes for 246 yards and one touchdown. While the passing numbers won't jump off the page, Philadelphia trusted what got it this far - the rushing attack. Washington had no answer for the dynamic duo of Barkley and Hurts, who set an NFC Championship record for rushing touchdowns with six between the two of them. Philadelphia added another rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter, courtesy of rookie running back Will Shipley.
Hurts stats on the ground accounted for 32 rushing yards (before sack yardage is deducted) and three rushing touchdowns. Not to be outdone in the touchdown category, Barkley continued to build on one of the best running back seasons in NFL history. Barkley ended the day with 118 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Philadelphia's seven rushing touchdowns tied the record for most in an NFL game. The Chicago Bears also had seven rushing touchdowns in one game, in 1940, in the NFL Championship game before the merger between the AFL and NFL.
The Alabama coalition in Philadelphia was a big contributor to the Eagles' second Super Bowl appearance. Landon Dickerson left the game with an injury in the first half, but his ability to maintain composure and continue supporting his teammates in the face of personal adversity was a big momentum booster for Philadelphia. In addition to Dickerson, former Alabama Heisman winner DeVonta Smith also saw action through the receiving game, catching all four of his targets on the day for 45 yards.
Tyler Steen also saw playing time for Philadelphia and could potentially see an increased role in the Super Bowl if Philadelphia is dealing with injuries to Cam Jurgens or Landon Dickerson.
The Eagles will have one week off before the Super Bowl, which will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9. They will play the winner of Kansas City and Buffalo, which kicks off later this afternoon.
