Jalen Hurts Makes NFL History

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is off to a historic start, as the team begins the season 3-0 for the first time since 2016. Hurts has been dynamic, hurting defenses with his arm and his legs. He became the first player in NFL history with 900+ passing yards and 150+ rushing yards in first three games of a season.

Hurts was excellent against in the Eagles 24-8 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. He completed 22-of-35 passes for 340 yards, three touchdowns and posted a passer rating of 123.5. He now has five career games with at least 330 passing yards, only four quarterbacks in NFL history have had more in their first 22 career starts.

The third-year quarterback is continuing to grow, just as he has done since he was 18 years old the University of Alabama.

"It's just the beginning," Hurts said. "But, I have a numerous amount of trust in every guy on the field – 88 (Dallas Goedert), 11 (A.J. Brown), 6 (Smith), 16 (Quez Watkins), 3 (Zach Pascal). All the running backs.

"You see (Grant Calcaterra) coming in there, making a big-time play when Dallas wasn't available. Same with Jack Stoll. So, it takes a group effort, and together, everyone achieves more."

The city of Philadelphia has embraced the 24-year-old quarterback. They showed up in bunches, taking over FedEx Field in Maryland and gave him MVP chants as he came off the field.

"I want to give a special shoutout to the Eagles fans – everybody who came out to FedEx Field. It definitely felt like it felt like a home game, just how loud it was in there, how much green and black was in the stadium," said quarterback Jalen Hurts. "It was very, very impressive and it was a sight to see."

Sunday’s outing comes fresh off of a stellar performance against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. Hurts has the team rolling through the month of September.

The Eagles return to action Sunday, Oct. 2 at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
