Bethea, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, spent just one season with the Crimson Tide and is Alabama's third player to enter the transfer portal from the 2025-2026 season, joining forward Taylor Bol Bowen and center Aiden Sherrell. Bethea, a former five-star recruit, spent his freshman season with the Miami Hurricanes, where he made 31 game appearances with 16 starts, averaging 7.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game on 36.8% shooting from the floor and 32.6% from three-point range. After his one season in Coral Gables, Bethea transferred to play for Nate Oats and Alabama.

Bethea's one season with the Crimson Tide didn't go as planned, appearing in 26 games with no starts, averaging 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 37.5% from the floor and 31.4% beyond the arc. Bethea's top performance came in the Crimson Tide's 97-55 victory over UTSA in December, when he had 21 points and six boards against the Roadrunners.

He joins forward Taylor Bol Bowen and center Aiden Sherrell as Alabama players who have entered the transfer portal.
