Jerry Jeudy Stars in Russell Wilson’s First Game with Broncos
The Seattle Seahawks came away with a nail-biting 17-16 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, spoiling the debut of quarterback Russell Wilson, who the Broncos made a blockbuster trade to acquire from the Seahawks.
A surprising loss for the Broncos, as many expect them to be a strong contender in not only the AFC West this season, but for the Super Bowl as well. Wilson struggled to find his receivers at times, making 21 of his 29 completions to his running backs or tight ends.
However, one wide receiver made a big impression in Denver’s first game of the season: former Alabama wideout Jerry Jeudy.
Jeudy hauled in Wilson’s first touchdown pass as a Bronco, a 67-yard play that involved Jeudy shrugging off a Seattle defender and outrunning another before crossing the goal line. It was one of Jeudy’s 4 catches on the night, totaling 102 yards.
The performance was Jeudy’s 3rd career 100-yard game, and his 4th career game with a touchdown. Although he had only four receptions, his ability to make plays after the catch was in full display.
Many predicted this season would be a breakout year for Jeudy and teammate Courtland Sutton after Denver upgraded at quarterback this offseason. With this kind of showing in his first game with Wilson, things look extremely promising for the third-year Crimson Tide product.
