Khurtiss Perry, 4-Star DL, Chooses Alabama over Auburn
One of the state's top uncommitted players is taking his talents to Tuscaloosa.
Khurtiss Perry, four-star defensive lineman out of Pike Road, AL, was rumored to be trending towards the Auburn Tigers ahead of National Signing Day, but opted for the Crimson Tide instead, bolstering would could become the nation's top ranked class.
Perry is a menace for opposing offenses, standing at 6-foot-2, 265 lbs., and frequently uses his incredibly high motor to find himself in the backfield, stopping plays before they can even develop in many cases.
With over 40 TFL's and 23 sacks in his senior season at Pike Road, Perry was not only one of the state's top prospects, but had gained significant national attention, landing offers from schools like Ohio State, Michigan and many more.
While the senior pass rusher had his choice of nearly any school in the country, his decision reportedly came down to his two home state schools; Alabama and Auburn.
247Sports' Gabe Brooks describes Perry as a stout defender that makes up for his lack of natural size with his energy and athleticism. Brooks calls Perry, "One of the best pure defensive playmakers in the 2022 class," in his analysis of the new Crimson Tide signee.
The Tide currently has commitments from three other defensive linemen for the 2022 class, all of which rank as four-star prospects, and also picked up the nation's top ranked edge rusher in Jeremiah Alexander. With a few uncommitted prospects still on the horizon for Alabama, most notably names like Domani Jackson and Marvin Jones, Jr., the Crimson Tide could take the first ranked class for back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2017.
