Landon Dickerson Nominated for William V. Campbell Trophy

Alabama offensive lineman, Landon Dickerson, was recently nominated for the William V. Campbell Trophy, awarded to the college football player who possesses the best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance.  Many refer to the award as the "Academic Heisman", and is a very prestigious award to be recognized for.  Dickerson has the chance to be only the second Crimson Tide player to win the award, following Barrett Jones in 2012.

The award recognizes athletes with at least a 3.2 GPA, outstanding play on the field, and strong leadership qualities.  Candidates for the award must also be seniors or a graduate student in their final year of eligibility, which Dickerson is.

Dickerson transferred to Alabama in the summer of 2019 after spending three years at Florida State, earning the starting job in all 13 games last year.  Grading out at nearly 88 percent on assignments for the two positions he played and only allowing one sack, Dickerson surely brings the on-field aspect of this award.

It is unknown whether Dickerson will play guard or center this year, but given his track record, he should excel at both positions.  Leading one of the nation's top offensive lines will be no easy task, but if Landon Dickerson can produce this season, he should be a shoo-in for this award.
