The Alabama Crimson Tide will get a major boost back to its defensive front when the Crimson Tide takes on the Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, star defensive end LT Overton has been cleared of his medical issue, and is set to play for Alabama when the Tide takes on Indiana in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal matchup of the College Football Playoffs.

Overton, a 6-foot-5, 278-pound defensive end from Milton, Georgia, has made 33 tackles for Alabama during the 2025 season, four sacks, and one pass breakup. His top performance of the season came in Alabama's 27-24 victory over the Missouri Tigers on October 11, where he contributed six tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Tide.

Overton has been dealing with an undisclosed medical issue, which kept him out of the SEC championship and Alabama's victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the College Football Playoff. He's viewed as a likely top-50 draft pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and his return can provide a big boost to the Alabama defense, which had five sacks and seven tackles for loss against Oklahoma on Friday.

Alabama will face top-seeded Indiana in the Rose Bowl on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Pasadena, California. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.
