Najee Harris Preparing For Big Showing at Alabama’s Pro Day

Najee Harris is in Dallas, Texas preparing for Alabama’s upcoming Pro day. The 6-foot-2, 230lb running back showed off some impressive footwork for a man his size.

Harris came to Alabama as an unanimous five-star recruit in the 2017 recruiting cycle and the No. 1 overall prospect according to Rivals. He accumulated a number of awards during his high school career including Cal-Hi Sports Mr. Football State Player of the Year, All-Metro Player of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle, Bobby Dodd National High School Running Back of the Year, Parade All-American and Rivals 100 Five-Star Challenge MVP.

As a freshman in 2017, Harris was part of a deep running back group for the Crimson Tide that featured Josh Jacobs, Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough. He appeared in all 14 games and a rushed for 370 yards and three touchdowns on 61 carries. In the national championship game, Harris led all Alabama rushers with 65 yards on only six carries.

In 2018, he saw an increased role after an exceptional performance in the national championship. Harris ranked second on the team in yards with 783 and led all Crimson Tide rushers with 6.7 yards per carry.  He earned offensive player of the week recognition from the Alabama coaches for his play against Arkansas State.

As a junior, Harris became the featured back in the Alabama offense. He rushed for 1,224 yards and 13 touchdowns while also adding 27 receptions for 304 yards and another seven touchdowns. His seven receiving touchdowns were the most by a running back in school history. Harris earned All-SEC second team accolades by the Associated Press.

Harris elected to return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season in 2020. He rushed for 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding 43 receptions for 425 yards and four scores. Harris became the school’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and career rushing yards. He would also move to second all-time in all-purpose yards. The California native became the fourth Alabama running back of the Nick Saban era to win the Doak Walker award. Harris also earned First-Team All-American honors.

Alabama’s pro day is set for March 23rd and will be televised on the NFL Network. Harris can solidify his first-round status will an impressive showing in front all 32 NFL teams.
