Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, per a myriad of outlets. Buchner began last season as Notre Dame's starting quarterback under current Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees.

Buchner plans to be in Tuscaloosa Tuesday evening and has placed a no contact tag next to his name in the portal, indicating he has a list of schools he's willing to attend already worked out.

Last year, Buchner completed 28 of 50 passes for no touchdowns and two interceptions before injuring his shoulder and surrendering the starting job to Drew Pyne, who spent the rest of the season as the starting quarterback. In Notre Dame's bowl game against South Carolina, Buchner went 18 of 33 for 273 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Nick Saban could have sounded happier with the play of his four quarterbacks after the A Day game, and fan reaction to the group has been largely negative. Saban has also said in the past that the team goes to the portal for players that can be plugged in as day one starters.

Perhaps Buchner gives this team the edge it needs.
