Bristow originally transferred to Alabama from Tarleton State last offseason, but injuries hampered his first season with Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide. Bristow only appeared in 10 games with one start on the season, averaging 3.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game on 36.4% shooting from the floor and 11.1% from beyond the arc. Even still, when Bristow was healthy and playing for Alabama, the 6-foot-10, 205-pound Texas native was a force to be reckoned with on the glass, collecting eight rebounds in Alabama's 90-86 victory over Illinois in Chicago and 11 boards in the Tide's 95-85 loss to Gonzaga in Las Vegas.

Bristow's return provides significant depth for the Crimson Tide at the four and five positions on the floor for Nate Oats after Alabama added Kentucky transfer Brandon Garrison, Mississippi State transfer Jamarion Davis-Fleming, NC State transfer Cole Cloer, and Boise State transfer Drew Fielder via the NCAA transfer portal, with all three of Garrison, Davis-Fleming, and Fielder being 6-foot-10 or taller. Cloer is the shortest transfer addition Alabama made so far at 6-foot-7.
