Alabama MBB Head Coach Nate Oats Inks New Deal to Stay With Alabama
Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats won't be going anywhere anytime soon, as Yea Alabama, the Crimson Tide's NIL collective, has announced that the Crimson Tide's men's basketball coach has signed a new contract, making him one of the top five highest-paid coaches in college basketball.

"Nate Oats has signed a new contract that will make him one of the top five compensated men's basketball coaches in the country," Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said in a statement. "Appropriate members of the board of trustees have been notified of the proposed terms of the new agreement, and it will soon be formally approved through the board process."
Oats led the Crimson Tide to its first-ever Final Four during the 2023-2024 season and has led the Crimson Tide to four consecutive Sweet 16 appearances, including two trips to the Elite Eight. Oats holds four SEC Championships (two in the regular season, two in the SEC tournament) and has more NCAA tournament wins and top-25 wins than any other Alabama men's basketball coach. Oats' previous buyout was a staggering $18 million, but it dropped to $10 million on April 1. While terms of Oats' new contract have yet to be released, the Crimson Tide's head coach won't be leaving Tuscaloosa anytime soon, and can now fully turn his attention toward roster retention and the transfer portal this offseason, which is set to open on Tuesday, April 7.
According to Nick Kelly of AL.com, Oats' new contract will run through the 2031-2032 season. His previous contract was set to expire on March 14, 2030.
