Paul W. Bryant High School welcomes in Hueytown for their third straight home game Friday night.

Hueytown has won 10 out of the 11 matchups between these two teams, including the victory from last year where the Golden Gophers won 58-18.

The last time Bryant beat Hueytown was 17 years ago in 2005 where the Stampede won 14-11.

Paul W. Bryant comes into this game winless this season. Last week Demopolis came into Stampede Stadium and didn't hold back beating Bryant 74-16.

Bryant went into that game, against the Tigers, with so many injuries in the quarterback room that junior Edwin Merriweather, who was the teams fifth string quarterback according to head coach Eldrick Hill, was given the starting job.

The Stampedes 16 points came from two touchdown passes from Merriweather, including one that was tipped by the Tigers into the hands of Stampede receiver senior Raheem Lewis.

Hueytown is coming off a bye week for this game. The Golden Gophers went on the road to beat Bessemer City 59-21 before their bye week.

Senior quarterback Earl Woods, three star prospect, hopes to make one last impression before his commitment Sunday.

Paul W. Bryant will host Hueytown Friday night at Stampede Stadium, with kickoff at 7 p.m. CST.
