We're used to seeing Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma in the playoffs year in and year out, but what If I told you a new team would emerge to take Oklahoma's spot?

That team is the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who are led by the mullet magician, Mike Gundy.

The Cowboys currently sit at No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 CFB rankings, after coming off a sloppy 16-7 win against Tulsa.

I know many of you may be reading this article thinking I'm off my rocker, but I'm not the only one who thinks highly of these Stillwater studs.

On College Gameday, Desmond Howard predicted an Alabama v Oklahoma State championship matchup in Miami.

After going 8-5 in 2019, Oklahoma State returns 18 starters including a dominate duo on offense with RB Chubba Hubbard, WR Tylan Wallace. Wallace and Hubbard are the only returning FBS RB/WR tandem with over 2,500 yards each.

Hubbard has accumulated 2,834 yards total yards in his career, and surprised a lot of people when he passed up on the draft to come back for another year at Oklahoma State. There's been a bit of drama in the off season regarding his relationship with Gundy, but both parties have let bygones be bygones.

Wallace suffered a torn ACL months into the 2019 season, but the 2018 Biletnikoff Award finalist still managed to amass 903 yards and 8 touchdowns before he went down. If he can stay healthy this year, the sky is the limit for the 6'0 190lb wideout.

Hubbard (+3300) and Wallace (+7500) are both Top 30 in pre-season 2020 Heisman odds, alongside Spencer Sanders (+5000) their starting QB.

Sanders is also incredibly talented and is a key factor in the team’s overall success, but after leaving early in the team’s victory over Tulsa, his health is a big-time question mark going forward.

Another plus that the Cowboys have going for them, is the fact that they return quite a few of their leading tacklers on the defensive side of the ball. The Big-12 has a reputation for highly explosive offenses and terrible defenses, but this group can flat out ball.

Linebackers Malcom Rodriguez and Amen Ogbongbemiga are the heart and sole of the defense, both were named to the 2020 preseason watch list for the Dick Butkus Award.

With a fantastic offense and a stout defense, what more could you ask for?

If they can find a way to hold off Oklahoma who’s won the division the last three years, then they have a real shot at being in the 2020 College Football Playoffs.

The Wild West could be taking the country by storm this year, be on the lookout for the Cowboys.
