Report: Dan Lanning Staying at Oregon
The coaching hunt is in full swing following former Alabama head coach Nick Saban's retirement announcement by Chris Low of ESPN on Wednesday afternoon.
One popular name with the public is now off the table.
Dan Lanning, head coach of the Oregon Ducks, is reportedly staying in Eugene, Oregon according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
Lanning was a graduate assistant at Alabama under coach Nick Saban for the 2015 season. That season, Alabama defeated Clemson in the College Football Playoff National Championship 45-40.
Lanning had further ties to the SEC, as he was Georgia's outside linebackers coach in 2018, then was the defensive coordinator for Georgia from 2019 to 2021.
Lanning boasts a 22-5 record in two seasons with the Ducks and a 2-0 bowl record. He was the favorite to land the Alabama coaching job but chose to stay in Oregon.
The school is moving all athletics to the Big 10 for the 2024 season. Lanning posted a video to his social media highlighting Oregon football, and the tag at the end of the video reads "I'm not leaving..."
Rumors continue to swirl around the program and who could replace Nick Saban. Tide 100.9 will cover the entirety of the search and have full coverage of Alabama's next head coach.
