Alabama Offensive lineman Roq Montgomery Enters Transfer Portal
Alabama reserve offensive lineman Roq Montgomery was not with the team when the Tide arrived in Pasadena, California, for the Rose Bowl matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers. Now, we have the answer to why, with Chris Hummer of 247 Sports reporting that Montgomery has entered the transfer portal.

Montgomery, a 6-foot-3, 330-pound offensive lineman from Anniston, Alabama, originally chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee. He was ranked as a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class and saw action in two games as a true freshman in 2023 against Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga. Still, he redshirted during his freshman season and saw action in 12 out of Alabama's games for the Crimson Tide a season ago, mainly on special teams and during mop-up duty. In 2025, he has not appeared in any games for the Crimson Tide.
Montgomery is the third player from Alabama to enter the transfer portal, with wide receiver Aeryn "Bubba" Hampton and defensive back Kameron Howard also entering the portal. The NCAA Transfer Portal will officially open on Friday, January 2.
If a team's season ends after the transfer portal closes, then players on those teams will have five extra days to submit their names to the transfer portal before it closes. The winter 15-day window is now the only transfer portal window in college football.
