According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams has accepted the head coaching job with the Maryland Terrapins.

Williams spent six seasons as the head coach of the Texas A&M's men's basketball team. During his tenure, the Aggies made the NCAA Tournament three times, advancing to the round of 32 twice. Williams also won SEC coach of the year in 2020 and 2023.

The Aggies fell to Michigan in the most recent NCAA tournament in the round of 32, 91-79.

In 2022, Texas A&M made the finals of the NIT tournament but fell to Xavier 73-72 in Williams' first chance to claim a title.

In addition to losing the Aggies' leading scorer for the last three seasons in Wade Taylor IV, Texas A&M will now look to hire the 23rd head coach in the history of their basketball program.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats was briefly linked to the Maryland head coaching opening before reports shut down the rumor quickly.
