Rumors have been circulating that the hard-nosed Harsin may not last much longer as Auburn's administration evaluates the sustainability of what he has built. The Auburn powers that be have been meeting over the weekend and the university has now released a statement, keeping the college football world up to date on Harsin's status.

Harsin signed a 6-year, $30 million contract with the Tigers in 2021 and therefore has five years remaining on his contract. Should the Auburn administration be able to prove Harsin was involved in an inappropriate relationship the University could opt to fire him with cause, and thus save the roughly $18 million buyout he has remaining on his contract.

Defensive coordinator Derek Mason has opted to leave Auburn after just one season, now the fourth assistant that Auburn will be replacing just a year into Harsin's tenure.

However, Harsin has reportedly convinced his top offensive weapon to return to Auburn and rejoin the Tigers' football program. According to Justin Hokanson of On3 Sports, Bigsby has changed his mind and will now rejoin the Auburn football team.

Auburn junior quarterback Bo Nix announced through his social media accounts on Sunday night that he would be entering the transfer portal. Nix has started for the Tigers for the last three seasons, however his 2021 season was cut short due to an ankle injury.

Recently, the Alabama Crimson Tide have not had much success in Jordan-Hare Stadium, as the Tide have dropped its last two match-ups in Auburn. The Tide travel to The Plains once again this Saturday, looking to pick up their first win in Auburn since 2015.
