The Countdown to A-Day

The official 10-day countdown for A-Day has begun today with questions lingering in the air.

The University announced that this upcoming fall that it will go back to normal operations will full capacity in classrooms. This announcement also gave the green light for athletic director, Greg Byrne, to have the infamous Bryant Denny Stadium at 100% capacity for the upcoming season. Due to COVID regulations, the stadium was only at 20% for the 2020-2021 season.

The final spring practice has a nationwide audience on ESPN, but the real question is the capacity that is going to be allowed into the stadium to witness the Crimson Tide boys. On Tuesday afternoon, Greg Byrne, took to Facebook Live video on the Crimson Tide Sports Network page to address the questions.

“We should know Friday exactly what capacity should be for sure,’ Byrne said, “and we’re looking forward to the chance to get everyone together within what we’re allowed to do. And it’s going to be great to have a spring game again this year with A-Day.”

I was able to speak with someone from Tide Tickets and they said that “the seating capacity has not been set yet because officials are still meeting with the governor.” The state deadline for COVID regulations expires on Friday, but new guidelines will be set for the state.

With the expectation of 100% capacity within the stadium, the university announced details for student tickets for the upcoming 2021 football season. Ticket packages will be based on the credit hours per student.
