The Tuscaloosa County High School Wildcats pulled off a stunning victory in the first round of the AHSAA 7A Football State Playoffs by overcoming a 21-7 deficit in the 3rd quarter to defeat Bob Jones 28-21 in Madison, AL. Quarterback Seth Franks had 3 TD passes and rushed for a 4th to lead the Wildcats in what has surely been the most shocking result of the state playoffs thus far.

While the TCHS offense did its part, the Wildcats defense, after being gashed earlier in the game, stopped the Bob Jones Patriots twice in the red zone in the final 2:30 of the game. Senior Alex Payne made the game-winning interception in the endzone with seconds remaining, coming just after the Patriots blocked a punt and had the ball at the Wildcats' 9 with about one minute left. That was one of 5 interceptions for the Wildcats, the other four being made by Justin Little, who played the his best game of the season.

Senior receiver Eddie Williams had 2 touchdown receptions to help the Wildcats bring the score to 21-20 after a missed PAT.  Another senior receiver, Chase Pearson, scored to put the Wildcats up 28-21 after a successful 2-point conversion.

The road gets much tougher for the Wildcats next week as they travel to Hoover to take on the top ranked Buccaneers.  TCHS fell to Hoover 66-27 in Northport back on October 10th.
