WATCH: Tear-Jerking Moment Deuce Vaughn is Drafted by His Dad
Every year, the NFL Draft is filled with heart-warming moments. Every one of the roughly 250 players that gets to hear their name called over the course of the weekend is having a life-long dream fulfilled that a minuscule fraction of football players will ever get to experience.
However, no moment in the 2023 NFL Draft can compare to when Dallas Cowboys assistant director of college scouting Chris Vaughn got to call his own son, Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn, and let him know he got to come to work with him moving forward.
Alabama played an important role in Vaughn's journey. The Wildcats had a fantastic season, finishing the regular season 9-3 and going on to win the Big XII Championship en route to a Sugar Bowl matchup with the Crimson Tide. Vaughn's repeated electric performances were a major factor in the team being able to do that.
However, one would be hard-pressed to find a remotely stout defense on Kansas State's schedule, let alone one that resembled that of an NFL defense. Standing at just 5'5", there were a lot of questions of whether Vaughn would be able to hold his own against a defense like the Tide's.
Vaughn answered the bell and handed in a 133 yard, one touchdown performance on 22 carries, his fifth best performance of the season. In doing so, he solidified himself as a bona fide back that could make it in the NFL.
