Why Alabama Basketball Should Remain No. 1
After an absolutely dominant win against the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night, the Crimson Tide is once again playing like the best team in college basketball. Alabama soundly defeated the Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 108-59.
The other candidates for the No. 1 spot would be the Houston Cougars and the UCLA Bruins. Houston currently has a 25-2 record playing in the American Athletic Conference, while UCLA has a 23-4 record playing in the PAC-12.
What makes Alabama special over these programs is that its has won seven of its conference games by 20+ points. They've also defeated the Cougars in sold-out Fertitta Center last December, so it makes the polling obvious on who should be No. 1 on Monday.
Alabama had a much-improved game from last Wednesday against the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville. The Tide had six straight 3-point plays in the beginning of the first half, as Alabama hit 16-34 (47.1%) from the 3-point line overall.
Brandon Miller was the scoring leader for the Tide, hitting 3-5 from the 3-point line with 21 points. Mark Sears was the most improved player, hitting 5-8 from the 3-point line while scoring 17 points.
However, the Hard Hat player of the game was Nick Pringle. He had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, as he kept the crowd on their feet with six total slam dunks.
Alabama will be back on the road as they play the South Carolina Gamecocks this Wednesday. The game will start at 8 p.m. CST on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU.
