Alabama cornerback Eli Ricks is currently out of practice with a back injury, according to head coach Nick Saban.

"He hasn’t been able to practice since the scrimmage," said Saban. He’s got a little back problem."

Ricks transferred from LSU to Alabama this off-season, one of five total transfers to join the program. In his two seasons with the Tigers, he recorded 31 total tackles (20 solo, 11 assisted), six passes defended, five interceptions for 113 yards, and two touchdowns.

Saban has spoken highly of the new transfers throughout spring and fall practice.

"I don’t think it’s anything that’s going to keep him out for a long time. Until he gets out there on the field and he continues to make progress, I can’t really comment on that. I was not disappointed in the way he played in the scrimmage. I think there’s a lot of competition at that position, and I can’t tell you who would be the starting corners at this point," said Saban.

The Alabama Crimson Tide kicks off its season on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. CST against Utah State. Radio coverage will be live on Tide 100.9 and the Tide 100.9 app, which is free to download in the App Store.
