The Alabama men’s basketball team got off to a 17-4 start against North Florida Wednesday night and never looked back, beating the Ospreys 76-48 in Coleman Coliseum. Junior guard Levi Randolph led the team with a career-high 20 points while going 7-of-11 from the field.

“Our guys really set the tone from a defensive standpoint tonight,” UA Head Coach Anthony Grant said. “I felt like our guys came out with great focus and great energy. I thought it was a dominant defensive performance.”

Alabama sprinted out of the gate and was up 25-10 after nine minutes thanks largely to shooting 10- of-14 from the field and 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line.

Freshman forward Jimmie Taylor had career-highs in both points and rebounds with 12 points and nine rebounds. He was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the field. Junior forward Nick Jacobs had 13 points. Coming into tonight, senior guard Trevor Releford has scored double-digits in every game this season and he continued that streak against North Florida, scoring 10 points to go with a team-high five assists.

Alabama had a season-high 18 assists on 26 field goals. The previous high was 17 in a 102-65 win over Stillman.

Alabama returns to action Saturday as they travel to Tampa, Florida to play the University of South Florida at 8:00 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPNU and the radio broadcast will be carried on the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
