Rob Vaughn Provides Update on Kaden Humphrey’s Injury
Following the Crimson Tide's 7-2 game one victory over North Florida on Friday, Alabama head coach Rob Vaughn was asked about right handed pitcher Kaden Humphrey and his apparent tommy john injury that he suffered in Alabama's 6-5 win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday, Vaughn went on to give some insight on the injury and what stage he is at now.

Humphrey is in his first season with the Crimson Tide after transferring from North Florida this past offseason. He was supposed to serve as a closer for the Tide. Unfortunately, during his appearance in Tuesday's win over Jacksonville State, the senior pitcher suffered an injury after throwing only 2 pitches against the Gamecocks before being pulled.
Theo Fernandez of Bama Central reported on Friday that Humphrey will undergo Tommy John Surgery.
When asked whether Humphrey would be undergoing Tommy John Surgery, a season-ending procedure, the head coach offered some insight, noting that the North Florida transfer has received all his MRIs and results but has yet to meet with the team doctor to discuss the plan moving forward.
"Obviously, everybody saw two pitches the other night, and so the big thing with him is just like he still hasn't been able to see Dr.Cain, who does all of our stuff. He'll see him this week. They've done all of the imaging, they've done everything that they need to do there." Vaughn added, "They'll go see Dr. Cain this week, and we'll get a good play moving forward."
This would be a huge blow for the Tide who haven't really been able to utilize Humphrey so far through the season, with the Senior pitcher only appearing in three games which was Alabama's 2-1 win over Alabama State back in Feburary and then last weekend in Frisco Texas when he appeared in one inning during Alabama's 8-7 win over Oregon State in game two of the tournament.
As of now, nothing is official, and Vaughn indicated that a decision won't be made until later in the weekend or early next week, when Humprhey meets with Dr. E. Lyle Cain Jr., who serves as the Crimson Tide team physician and specializes in Tommy John surgeries.
