Alabama's defense was depleted following the NFL draft declarations and the transfer portal moves following the retirement of former head coach Nick Saban. The outside linebacker room was one of the hardest hit, losing Dallas Turner to the first round of the NFL draft and Chris Braswell to the second round of the NFL draft.

Alabama will once again be looking for depth at outside linebacker in 2025, as Quandarrius Robinson is a senior, and Keanu Koht is also an upperclassman but does have another season of eligibility.

Alabama just earned a commitment from a player who could provide some strong competition in that room.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, four-star edge rusher Justin Hill has committed to the University of Alabama.

Hill committed to the Crimson Tide in a very tough battle between Alabama, Oregon, and Ohio State. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect also held offers from USC, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, and other Power Five programs.

Hill attends Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is currently rated as the No. 58 overall prospect in the 2025 class, the No. 4 overall edge player, and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Ohio. He is the Tide's first 2025 commitment from Ohio.

During his junior year in 2023, Hill played in 11 games totaling 36 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Hill visited Alabama on June 14. His primary recruiters were Charles Robinson, the outside linebackers coach, and Kane Wommack, the defensive coordinator for Alabama.

247 Sports projects Hill at a high-major level as a potential impact player with long-term NFL Draft upside.

Alabama's 2025 recruiting class currently looks like this:

  • Dijon Lee - 5-star CB
  • Justin Hill - 4-star EDGE
  • Kaleb Edwards - 4-star TE
  • Darrell Johnson - 4-star LB

  • Lotzier Brooks - 3-star WR
  • Luke Metz - 3-star LB

Alabama still ranks as the No. 2 overall recruiting class in 2025 according to 247 Sports.
