With the Crimson Tide losing four-year punter James Burnip, finding a replacement was crucial. Alabama's first commitment from the portal came on Monday, when punter Blake Doud announced via X that he will be transferring to Alabama with one season of eligibility remaining.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to my coaches, teammates, and the entire Oredigger community. Thank you for your support, memories, and encouragement throughout my journey here. The friendships I've made and lessons l've learned have shaped me into the athlete and person I am today. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey so far. I'll always appreciate my time at Mines and I look
forward to what's ahead. I have decided to transfer to The University of Alabama to continue my football career and academic
journey," said Doug.

The redshirt junior began his career with the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned First Team All-American, First Team Academic All-American, NFFCC Colorado Special Teams Player of the Year, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year in both 2023 and 2024. Doud averages around 46.5 yards per kick. In the 2024-25 season, he posted a career long punt against the West Texas A&M Buffaloes, booting the ball 80 yards and completely flipping the field in the process.

As of now, Doud is the only commit out of the portal, with more visiting Alabama this week. For more news regarding transfers and commits, stay tuned to Tide 100.9.
