Despite rallying back to pull the score within four points, the Alabama men’s basketball team was unable to hold off the Tigers, and dropped Saturday night’s SEC matchup by a final score of 71-60 inside the Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, LA. With the loss, Alabama falls to 14-9 on the season, including a 4-6 mark in conference play. LSU improves to 17-6, and 6-4 against SEC foes.

The Crimson Tide trailed by as many as 17 points, but reeled off a 14-2 run that trimmed the LSU lead to just four points with 9:25 to play. The Tigers had answers for the Alabama attacks all night, and quickly responded with an 8-2 run of their own to put that Tigers back up by 10 at the five minute mark.

Levi Randolph (17) and Shannon Hale (13) combined for exactly half of the Crimson Tide’s 60 points. Freshman guard Riley Norris was also highly effective, notching his first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. LSU forward Jordan Mickey dropped a game-high 24 points on 10-13 shooting, and reeled in 12 rebounds.

Tonight’s game in Baton Rouge began a stretch for Alabama in which the team will play three of its next four games away from Tuscaloosa. Alabama will remain on the road when it travels to Starkville, Miss., where the Tide will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
