Auburn struck first, plating a run in the opening inning thanks to an RBI double from third baseman Eric Guevara. Leadoff hitter Bristol Carter drew a walk to start the inning and stole second base, setting up Guevara's double. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the first.

The Crimson Tide responded in the bottom of the second inning when first baseman Luke Vaughn launched a two-run home run to left field, his fifth of the season, giving Alabama a 2-1 lead heading into the third inning.

Alabama extended its lead in the bottom of the fifth when center fielder Bryce Fowler hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot to right field, making it a 3-1 game going into the sixth inning.

Tyler Fay, Alabama's starting pitcher in Game One, delivered a strong performance, holding the fifth-ranked Tigers to just one run and one hit over five innings while striking out five and walking three. Fay exited at the start of the sixth, replaced by left-handed pitcher Matthew Heiberger, who struck out two of his first three batters and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. In the eighth, redshirt sophomore Sam Mitchell entered and struck out two batters to end the top half of the inning.

Vaughn picked up his third RBI of the day in the bottom of the sixth with a double to deep left field, driving in Justin Osterhouse, who had singled earlier in the inning. This extended Alabama’s lead to 4-1 going into the seventh.

Auburn had no answer for the Crimson Tide's offense as Alabama piled on runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jason Torres hit a double that drove in shortstop Justin Lebron and Fowler, giving Torres two RBIs and Alabama a five-run lead. Shortly after, catcher John Lemm hit a two-run home run to right-center—his fourth of the season—making it 8-1 going into the eighth inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Crimson Tide added three more runs with RBI singles from Neal, Torres, and Lemm, pushing the lead to ten and ending the game early via the mercy rule.

Alabama improves to 20-7 on the season and 4-3 in SEC play. The Tide will be back in action tomorrow evening for game two, looking to clinch the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
