The No. 24 Alabama women’s basketball team defeated Louisiana Monroe 75-52 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum, marking their sixth win of the season with a commanding 23-point margin.

Senior guard Sarah Ashlee Barker set the tone early, sinking a three-pointer just 20 seconds into the game. The first quarter was tightly contested, featuring four lead changes as Alabama and ULM traded baskets. However, the Tide began to pull away in the second quarter, embarking on a 7-2 run over nearly five minutes. Alabama dominated the quarter, outscoring ULM 23-4 and heading into halftime with a 46-22 lead.

The Warhawks showed resilience after the break, opening the third quarter with an 8-5 run over the first 4:34 to slightly narrow the deficit. Despite being outscored in the third, Alabama regained control in the fourth quarter, shooting 46 percent (6-for-13) to seal the victory.

Barker continues her stellar season, recording her fifth consecutive double-digit performance with a game-high 25 points and three assists. She is averaging 18.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and shooting 50.6 percent from the field this season.

Guard Zaay Green contributed 13 points and four assists, bringing her season averages to 13.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game. A standout at UAPB last season, Green was named to the All-CAA Third Team and All-CAA Defensive Team, averaging 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game.

Curry commented on her team's performance and resilience, noting the challenges of a busy schedule.

""With four games in seven days, I think our players really responded there in the first and second (quarters). We looked a little heavy-legged in the third and the fourth (quarters) but credit our kids for coming into a tough environment and getting a twenty-plus point road win. We need to improve some things, we understand, but I'm also very proud of this group, again, for playing four games in seven days. They have done a lot of good things. We just have to continue to work on the things we need to improve and build on the things we're doing well," said Curry.

Following a bye week, Alabama will compete in the inaugural Emerald Coast Classic on November 25-26, 2024, in Niceville, Florida. The Crimson Tide will face Alabama State in the opening round on November 25 at 1:30 p.m. CT.

The tournament features two brackets: the Bay Bracket, including Alabama, Alabama State, Clemson, and UAB; and the Beach Bracket, featuring Creighton, Missouri, Syracuse, and Wichita State. All games will take place at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College.
