Addison Bowman, the top-ranked tennis player from Georgia, has signed her letter of commitment to Alabama’s 2025 class.

Head coach Jonatan Berhane announced the news earlier this week.

"I am so excited to welcome Addison to our program next year. Addison is someone I've believed in as a player since day one. She will bring so much energy to our program, and it will be fun to see her compete for the Crimson Tide. She is the perfect college player, as she excels in both singles and doubles. She will fit in so well, and I know will give all she has both on and off the court during her career at Alabama," said Berhane.

The blue-chip recruit from Jefferson is currently ranked No. 33 nationally by the Tennis Recruiting Network. Bowman earned gold and bronze medals in the Girls' 16 doubles at the 2021 Southern Junior Championships and was named Girls' 16 2021 Southern Closed Champion.

Alabama finished last season with a 15-11 record overall, with singles matches at 108-90 and doubles at 49-44.

Berhane became Alabama’s head coach in April following longtime head coach Jenny Mainz’s retirement. Previously, Berhane served as assistant coach for five seasons.

Director of Athletics Greg Byrne talked about Berhane and what he brings to Alabama.

"We are excited to announce the elevation of Jonatan to head coach of our women's tennis program. He has incredible character and, having been a part of the program for the last five seasons, knows all about the wonderful team culture built by his predecessor Jenny Mainz. Congratulations to Jonatan and his family. We look forward to having him join our outstanding lineup of head coaches," said Byrne.

In other Alabama tennis news, former Crimson Tide player Erin Routliffe won the doubles title at the WTA Riyadh Finals alongside partner Gaby Dabrowski, defeating Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova 7-5, 6-3. The duo had previously lost to the same team in the Wimbledon final earlier this year.

Routliffe expressed gratitude for the support in Riyadh.

"I can't wait to play for you guys again; we've had the most amazing experience. I really cannot put into words how amazing this week has been. So I'm just going to say thank you so much, Gaby, to our team and everybody; we're so excited to come back and thank you so much," said Routliffe.

Before joining Alabama, Routliffe was ranked No. 2 in Canada and No. 17 in the Junior ITF rankings. She competed in all four junior Grand Slams, reaching the doubles quarterfinals at both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2012. At Alabama, Routliffe posted singles and doubles records of 84-42 and 75-37.

Alabama men's basketball heads to West Lafayette, Indiana to face No. 13 Purdue tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. CT on Tide 100.9 FM and 1230 AM WTBC.
