Alex Reese to Play Professionally in Europe
Former Crimson Tide forward, Alex Reese, after going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft has taken an opportunity to continue his basketball career overseas for the Hubner Blue Sharks out of Nyiregyhaza, Hungary.
The Blue Sharks play in Hungary's A-Division and currently feature just two other American player: C.J. Bryce who played at North Carolina State from 2018-2020 and Nigel Johnson who played at Virginia in 2017.
A loose translation of the team's Instagram post reads, "We have our fourth figure! We have managed to reach an agreement with another foreign player: American Alex Reese." The post continues by describing what Reese brings to the team, explaining he can be deployed at the four or five and is a good outside shooter with solid defensive ability.
Also included in the Instagram post is a quote from Reese's new coach, Akos Petho who said, "He was an important addition on the Alabama team, helping his team to the sweet sixteen. We are confident in his potential and that he will be able to advance his basketball career here."
According to eurobasket.com, the Blue Sharks recently won the Hungarian B-Division regular season and tournament title earlier this year, securing their bump up to the A-Division for the 2022 season.
In his four years with Alabama, Reese averaged 6.1 points while shooting nearly 40% from the field as well as 3.3 rebounds. While not eye-popping stats, Reese is forever immortalized in Crimson Tide fans memories for the game-tying buzzer beater he buried against UCLA to send the game to overtime.
