Bama in the NFL: Week Two Recap
Week two has ended and the conference races have begun. Lots of injuries this week and lots of surprises. Let's go through the Bama players that had a big week.
Dolphins vs. Bills:
Final: Bills - 31, Dolphins - 10
Tua Tagovailoa - Started the game slow as a tough divisional matchup is expected to go. After he sustained a head injury that led to his 3rd NFL concussion, The game slipped away from the Dolphins. An unfortunate circumstance for Tua as he now has a career decision to make. He is expected to be out for 1-3 weeks as he undergoes concussion protocol.
Jaylen Waddle - An underwhelming game for Waddle which is understandable since his quarterback went out from injury and a matchup against a tough defense. With less-than-stellar backup QB play, it's a tough game to swallow for Waddle. Expect a bounce back if/when Tua returns.
Falcons vs Eagles:
Final: Falcons - 22, Eagles - 21
Jalen Hurts - A harder matchup than initially expected, but this is the NFL, every week is a brawl. With no AJ Brown, this offense was sniffled in the passing game relying on Saquon for both pass game and run game efficiency. The Falcons did a good job in coverage limiting downfield plays. Jalen was still effective going 23/30 for 183 and a TD. The game ended with an interception thrown by Jalen. Not how he would like to end the game, but there are plenty of games ahead.
DeVonta Smith - The main passing threat in this game for the Eagles catching 7 for 76 and a TD. He was continuously coming in clutch for Jalen on third down being that go-to target, making some incredible catches. Smitty is primed for another good year, proving his contract worth. Look for more big games from Smitty while Brown is out, even if he comes back he still will suck up targets.
Buccaneers vs. Lions:
Final: Bucs - 20, Lions - 16
Jahmyr Gibbs - Gaining 84 yards off of 13 carries, Gibbs had a pretty good night, also picking up 22 receiving yards off of 7 catches. Gibbs continues to be the main feature on the ground in this offense being an effective chain mover in both passing and rushing. The Lions have a hefty schedule so they will need to continue to rely on their back going forward, Gibbs will continue to shine.
Jameson Williams - catching five balls for 79 yards is a pretty good stat line. While you would like to see him hit the end-zone, this Bucs secondary is one of the best and most experienced in the league. That being said he put up a pretty good stat line and continues to be a main look for Goff as Jamo garnered 11 total targets. More explosive games are ahead for him this year
Those are the best games from Bama Players this week, and an exciting week it was! Check back on Thursday for the week three outlook. Roll Tide!
