Bond for former Alabama defensive lineman and current Kansas City Chief Isaiah Buggs for animal cruelty charges was revoked on Monday following his arrest over the weekend on new charges regarding burglary and domestic violence.

Buggs, 27, was arrested on Sunday morning on charges of Domestic Violence and second-degree burglary. He was being held on a 24-hour domestic violence hold and a $5,00 bond. He was released earlier on Monday.

On Monday morning, prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Buggs' bond on the animal cruelty charges. One of the conditions of his release on bond with that charge was that he would not commit any more crimes.

Tuscaloosa County District Judge Joanne Jannik granted the request and ordered Buggs to be held without bond.

As of publication of this story, Buggs has not been booked at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

In a statement released on Sunday, a Tuscaloosa Police Public Information representative said, "TPD officers responded to the 1600 block of Mimosa Park Road following a 911 call placed at 5:28 a.m. Sunday. As a result of the investigation, Isaiah Buggs, 28, was charged with second-degree burglary/domestic violence. He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and is being held on a 12-hour domestic violence hold and $5,000 bond."

No other details have been released at this time.

Buggs has been charged on multiple accounts in Tuscaloosa this year, including shoving the Tuscaloosa Police Chief, animal cruelty, and now, domestic violence and burglary.

As reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread, Buggs hookah lounge, King's Hookah Lounge, is shutting down and surrendering its business license in addition to the current legal proceedings for Buggs in Tuscaloosa.

Buggs started his football career at Mississippi Coast Community College. He was the No. 1 player in junior college in the 2017 recruiting class and committed to Alabama. While at Alabama, Buggs started 28 games over two seasons. During 2017, he totaled 51 tackles, four tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks en route to helping Alabama win the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship over the Georgia Bulldogs. During his senior year, Buggs totaled 51 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three passes batted down, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery en route to a national championship appearance against the Clemson Tigers. He was named All-SEC by the Associated Press and the SEC coaches.

Buggs was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Buggs spent three seasons in Pittsburgh, totaling 31 tackles and two tackles for loss.

In 2022, Buggs signed with the Detroit Lions, starting 13 games for Detroit. He totaled 46 tackles and 10 quarterback hits.

Buggs spent the start of 2023 with Detroit before being cut by the Lions, then he was picked up and spent the rest of the season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.
