TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Tuscaloosa's 2025 homecoming game won't be one to be remembered. Following an 0-4 start to the season, the Wildcats were looking for a spark, and in a big way. However, it's gonna take more than a buzzing pep rally to stop this Oak Mountain offense. They were led by the man under center, sophomore quarterback Charlie Vacarella.

Both teams came out slow, with three and outs from each squad. After that however, Vacarella was able to lead his team down the field, alongside senior running back Marty Myricks. The Eagles struck first blood when Vacarella gave Senior Kasen Lemons a perfect 50/50 ball in the corner of the endzone.

Both teams continued the early trend of slow offense as they traded fumbles lost near midfield. Believe it or not though, neither team will consider those plays complete failures, as TC's fumble came on a 24 yard run, and Oak Mountain's on a 10-plus yard play in which Vacarella was able to extend the play, move the pocket, and find his reciever.

The difference maker in this game was without a doubt the second quarter. Both teams went in complete opposite directions after their fumbles. Oak Mountain rattled off four consecutive touchdowns, including a hat trick from Myricks, and a 50 yard bomb Vacarella to four-star wideout Jayden Aparicio-Bailey. Aparicio-Bailey is currently listed on 247 Sports as a top-ten player in the state of Alabama. He is however, listed as a safety, not a reciever.

Tuscaloosa county came close to wiping the zero off the board late in the first half, but were stopped short on 4th and goal. Oak Mountain nearly capitalized, as Apricio-Bailey hauled in a deep down the left sideline with only ten seconds to remain. They also failed to capitalize, and both teams headed to the locker room with a score of 29-0.

Head coach Chris Bell said that he thought his team could have handled the adversity better early on, but found some things on offense that started to work late in the half.

The second half didn't do much to swing the odds in favor of the Wildcats either, as another three and out led to a quick touchdown from Marty Myricks. Halfway through the third, Oak Mountain head coach Shane McComb pulled his three offensive stars, and didn't score again until halfway through the fourth quarter. Backup RB junior Judson Sachs took it in from 4 yards out to grow the lead to 43-0.

Tuscaloosa County did not leave empty handed however, sophomore QB CJ Kimble hit paydirt with a quarterback sneak to avoid the shutout late in the final period.

For any County fan reading this story, there is no need to panic. Coach Bell is in his first year, and has won at least eight games in a season at two of his last three coaching stops.
