According to On3 Recruits on X, five-star safety Jireh Edwards will announce his commitment on July 5. His finalists are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

Edwards is widely considered one of the best safeties in the 2026 recruiting class, ranked as the No. 21 overall prospect and the No. 2 overall safety in the 2026 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety from St. Frances Academy in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, joins fellow five-star safety Jett Washington as having Alabama and Oregon in his final list of schools.

Edwards Visits the Capstone

Edwards already visited Alabama, setting foot in Tuscaloosa for the first time on March 20 to watch the Tide practice during spring practice. He'll return to Tuscaloosa for his official visit on May 30.

In addition to Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Oregon will get official visits as well. He's already taken a visit to Georgia and will be at Auburn this weekend.

Jireh Edwards' full official visiting schedule is:

Georgia: April 12
Auburn: May 30
Alabama: June 6
Texas A&M: June 13
Oregon: June 20
Edwards' primary recruiter from the Crimson Tide is offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic, but Alabama likely has the coaches with the best relationships in the region pursuing the talented prospect.

As a junior in 2024, Edwards was named an All-American and was the top safety on a St. Frances squad that fielded one of the best defenses in high school football. He finished 2024 with 92 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, and three forced fumbles.

247 Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins compared Edwards to first-round safety Malaki Starks, formerly of the Georgia Bulldogs.

"Punishing defender that should offer some alignment flexibility at his next stop, as he can spin down into the box or patrol from the border. Owns a college-ready build with some promising features and tested off the charts spring before junior year..Overall, projects as an all-around defensive playmaker that can make an impact on Saturdays and then possibly Sundays with his physicality and athleticism."
