Former Alabama defensive back DeMarcco Hellams was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons as the No. 224 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

The Washington D.C. native played four seasons at the Capstone, recording 261 total tackles (160 solo, 101 assisted), 7.5 tackles for loss for 22 yards, 2.5 sacks for 11 yards, 17 passes defended, four interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Hellams is the tenth Alabama alumnus to be selected in the draft this year, joining Bryce Young, Will Anderson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, Tyler Steen, Byron Young, Jordan Battle, Cameron Latu, and Henry To'oTo'o.

Hellams joins a Falcons team that went 7-10 last season and finished in last place in the NFC South.
