Alabama will have to hunt for offensive line depth elsewhere, with Ty Haywood de-committing from Alabama in January earlier this year. Haywood had been committed to Alabama since July 2024.

Haywood, a five-star offensive tackle from Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, originally committed to the Crimson Tide over Oklahoma.

Rated as the No. 42 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, Haywood's de-commitment had been in the works for months behind the scenes. A lot of positive momentum behind the scenes has worked in the favor of the Michigan Wolverines, who defeated Alabama 19-13 in the Reliaquest Bowl on December 31.

Haywood now has a new home, officially committing to the Michigan Wolverines on National Signing Day 2025.

Haywood took an official visit to Alabama on May 31 after receiving an offer from the previous coaching staff in May 2023.

Alabama is still ranked as a top-four recruiting class in 2025, signing three five-stars during the early signing period and adding 21 total players (eight four-star recruits) in the 2025 recruiting class, with another eight players committing to Alabama via the 2024 winter transfer portal window.

Alabama will have another chance to add to its 2025 roster before the official start of the season on August 30. The spring transfer portal will open from April 16-25, a 10-day window for Alabama to add any depth it may need going into 2025.
