Grant Nelson Injury Update
Insult was added to injury on Saturday in the SEC tournament for the Alabama Crimson Tide, as the Tide fell to the Florida Gators for the second consecutive season to end an SEC tournament run. The Tide's most recent loss to the Gators came in a 104-82 beatdown.

The game started competitive, with Alabama and Florida matching each other stride for stride, and Alabama even holding a six-point lead early in the game. Alabama started well with the contributions from two big men - Grant Nelson and Clifford Omoruyi. The gameplan looked to allow Nelson and Omoruyi to be the catalysts for a potential Crimson Tide victory.
That plan was de-railed early, as Grant Nelson left late in the first half with a left knee injury and did not return, while Omoruyi was in foul trouble, limiting his minutes for the Crimson Tide.
Alabama head coach Nate Oats said postgame that the Alabama staff notified him of Nelson's second-half absence immediately following halftime. How bad is the North Dakota native's injury?
"He got that knee injury. Not exactly sure what it is," Alabama head coach Nate Oats said after the loss to Florida. Oats does not think it is an ACL injury, which would remove Nelson from the entire NCAA tournament."Hopefully we get him back for the first round of the NCAA Tournament."
Nelson only played 10 minutes in the game but totaled nine points and three rebounds before leaving the contest. After Nelson left, Florida outscored Alabama 63-40 en route to a major victory.
Another update on Nelson was provided on Sunday, with Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reporting Nelson would see a knee specialist on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Nelson averages 11.8 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game for Alabama.
