Alabama sophomore guard, Jahvon Quinerly has had a complicated history with the NCAA throughout his college career. The SEC Tournament MVP has found his niche on the Crimson Tide basketball team as a sparkplug off the bench and it appears the young guard from New Jersey is finding his voice off the court as well.

Quinerly has joined several NCAA athletes on social media protesting NCAA eligibility rules and rules restricting athletes from profiting off its name image or likeness. Quinerly has first hand experience dealing with the NCAA in regards to his image, prior to entering college, Quinerly was involved in a marketing movement "JellyFam" which featured young basketball players making highlight plays for internet views and marketing purposes.

Quinerly was considered a 5-star recruit in the class of 2018 when he originally committed to Arizona. Quinerly found himself wrapped up in the FBI's probe into college basketball and ultimately ended up going to Villanova.

The talented guard spent one-year with Jay Wright and Villanova and appeared in 25 games as a reserve player. After a tumultuous year in Philadelphia, Quinerly decided it would be best for him to enter the transfer portal.  In swoops Alabama head coach Nate Oats.

One of the first thing Oats did was convince Quinerly to re-start his college career in Tuscaloosa. Most thought the talented guard would be allowed to transfer from Villanova to Alabama without sitting out for a season but unfortunately the NCAA denied his waiver request resulting in him waiting until the 2020-21 season before making his debut.

Quinerly has had friction with the NCAA since before he was even a college athlete, making him the perfect candidate to join the #NotNCAAProperty movement. It remains to be seen how or even if the NCAA will respond to the social media movement but at the least college athletes are banding together to make their displeasure heard.
